Qonto is a French payment institution founded in 2016 by Alexandre Prot and Steve Anavi to address the outdated and complex banking experience they faced as entrepreneurs. Positioned as the “Google Workspace for Finance,” it offers a digital platform for SMEs and freelancers across eight European markets, combining business accounts, invoicing, expense management, and financing tools. Qonto has been profitable since 2023 and filed for a French banking license in July 2025 to expand its offerings. With a goal of reaching 2 million users by 2030, it continues to scale despite regulatory risks and strong competition from players like Revolut.
